KUNSTWERK WIEN was for sure one of the best (party-)locations in vienna in the time from 1999 up to 2001. After the right-wing parties ( blau-schwarz) succeeded the elections in 2000 the police tried everything to shut down this inspiring and powerful place i guess they smelled some kind of selbstbestimmung in vienna. They did their job and closed down. (...for sure they had many good reasons.......) I was lucky to spent a lot of time there watching Peter, David, Tommy, "Monsignore" ...., with or without my camera, getting away with the party business in the beginning more, in the end less successful. The pics below i took in the very beginning of the takeover from David ("mediapunk") and Peter in 1999. I loved the atmosphere of the empty rooms in this beautiful factory in the 16. district.
